Picture Body Magic Music Monday – Friday at 11am on Youtube – A live daily online music session.

Each week, Mrs Wainwright will set you a song to learn. There will be some extra activities for you to try as well.
Below are the last couple of weeks work, for previous weeks work click here

Holiday – Music Activities From Oldham Music Service

Take a look at the two pages below. There are lots of musical activities to choose from this week and throughout the summer holidays. The first page has easy activities and the second page has some more challenging ideas.

There are some activities that you can do without the internet and some with links to YouTube to inspire you to create some music.

Hungarian Dance No. 5

This is another percussion at home piece from the Musication YouTube Channel.

The link to the YouTube video is here:

Choose up to four different sounds and match them to the four shapes. When your coloured dot gets to the bottom, make your sound. You could do this with other members of your family.

The music is lively and gets faster and faster so the challenge is to see if you can keep up with the changing speed. It would also be fun to dance to!

The Bare Necessities: Body Percussion Piece.

This music activity has a song and a body percussion performance for you to learn. The body percussion is quite simple and on the beat of the music. (Body percussion means using your hands, feet, knees and finger clicks for create sound). The challenge is to keep it going throughout the song.

The Bare Necessities is a song from a famous Disney film. Can you remember which one? (The answer is at the bottom of the page). It was composed in 1967.

Website for the tutorial and performance videos:

Look at the tutorial video to learn the different patterns. Then, try to play along with the performance video. You could sing the song too. The lyrics are below.

The Bare Necessities:

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature’s recipes
That bring the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander
Wherever I roam
I couldn’t be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin’ in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants And take a glance at the fancy ants
And then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life
Will come to you
They’ll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That’s why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or prickly pear
And you pick a raw paw
Next time Beware
Don’t pick the prickly pear by the paw When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don’t need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw Have I given you a clue?
The bare necessities of life will come to you They’ll come to you!

The Bare Necessities song is from Disney’s The Jungle Book.
