Ancient Egypt – Summer term 2019

During the Summer half term, Year 3 have been learning about Ancient Egypt. To kick start the topic the children took part in 2 Egyptian themed days. Clever Cogs visited school with their Egyptian tomb and puzzles. The children had a fantastic day.

I enjoyed making the Egyptian necklaces. We used paper plates and pasta. We cut the paper plate and added pasta and paint to create our designs. Zainab A (Class 1)

I enjoyed the Puzzle tomb the most. We had to solve puzzles in three drifferent rooms. The first room had a box we had to open, the next room didn’t have a roof! It had a skeleton inside who had hidden the keys. The final room had a skelton box that we needed to open. It was amazing! Momin (Class 2)

I enjoyed the Puzzle Tomb! The first room was dark and we needed to use a torch to find numbers that counldn’t be seen in the light. We had to find keys but there were so many keys. Raabia (Class 3)

Junk Modelling – 1st March 2019

The children in year 3 have used a variety of materials to create a rainforest. The children worked collabratively to create the setting. They used their experience from Chester Zoo to help them. Following the creative session the children used their senses and powerful adjectives to describe a rainforest setting.

Maths

In maths we have been learning about measurement. We have created our own Steps to Success to follow to measure with accuracy.

Chester zoo – 26 Feb 2019

This half term, Year 3 will be learning about Jungles and Deserts. The children will be writing a setting description of the jungle using their senses. We visited Chester Zoo to look closely at the habitats of different animals and a first hand experience of what it would be like in a Jungle.
